In the year 19th January 2022 ,Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a pro-Khalistan outfit banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,threatened to run an international campaign on Republic Day titled ‘Raise Khalistan — Block Tiranga’, with operatives on NIA’s most-wanted list, Jaswinder Singh Multani, Paramjit Singh Pamma and Hardeep Singh Nijjar, assigned to lead the protests in Germany, UK and Canada respectively.
Same agitation echoed on Monday 30th January 2023 when a protest was lodged with Australian authorities over attacks by Khalistani activists on people of Indian origin who were protesting against a so-called “Khalistan referendum” organised by the outlawed Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) over the weekend.
The call for a separate Sikh state began in the wake of the fall of the British Empire. In 1940, the first explicit call for Khalistan was made in a pamphlet titled “Khalistan”. With financial and political support of the Sikh diaspora, the movement flourished in the Indian state of Punjab – which has a Sikh-majority population – continuing through the 1970s and 1980s, and reaching its zenith in the
late 1980s. In the 1990s, the insurgency petered out, and the movement failed to reach its objective for multiple reasons including a heavy police crackdown on separatists, factional infighting, and disillusionment from the Sikh population.
Jagjit Singh Chohan was the founder of the Khalistan Movement who established the Council of Khalistan at Anandpur Sahib on 12 April 1980 and became its first president.
As a matter of fact nowhere in the Guru Granth Sahib does it state there should be a separate Sikh Nation.
Formation of Khalistan should be ruled out as Economically,Politically and Socially it has no grounds. A bunch of selfish, fanatics, separatists, misguided people within and without this country, who are now playing in the hands of enemies of our country. They want to divide this country, in communal lines. There has never been any discrimination, against anyone, in this country, on the basis of caste or creed. Everyone is equal before law and has equal rights, liberties and opportunities. SFJ works mainly as hindu haters. Lot of khalistan sikhs hate hindus just cause they are Hindus. A lot of fake propaganda in Western Media and Pakistan is also being made that Sikhs are facing majority oppression in India.
Sikhs are the proud face of this country and are known for their hard work, valor and integrity. The fact of the matter is that overwhelming majority ( almost 99%) Sikhs in India don’t bother about this Referendum of Khalistanis and remain indifferent towards it, because firstly it is baseless with no merits where FAKE news propagated by people as there is no such “oppression” happening and secondly, it is well instituted that it is a hoax perpetrated by Pakistan and western Media establishment.
Khalistan is a failed idea and has no basis. Unfortunately Khalistani flags can be seen everywhere in Canada and other parts of the Country brainwashing the minds of Youths .
Sikhs in the majority do not support or even think of any such ideology of a separate nation. It’s time Everyone understands this and defeats the very purpose of people trying to create an atmosphere of fear.
