News Paper Industry has been adversely affected during Lockdown. With over 25,000 peoples are working directly or indirectly in news paper industry across the State who are dedicatedly discharging their duties / services for the people of Assam particularly. Reports have now started coming from the agencies, units , that the media persons / correspondence and other officials are now running short of food and cash and moreover the price rise of all kinds of goods are causing difficulties for the authorities to maintain the circulation and printing of papers which are regularly published.
In this connection, The delegation of All Assam Newspaper Association, met Vishnu Kamal Bora, Director, Information and Public Relations, Government of Assam and submitted a memorandum to the DIPR director where it was stated that the necessary support must be provided from his end for survival of news paper industry as well as in larger interest of media persons which was led by Sankar Gohain, Chief Managing Director of ‘Dainandin Barta’, Nitul Sharma of ‘Pratah Khabar’, Rubul Talukdar of ‘Dainik Batori Kakat’ , Rakesh Sarma of and ‘Bikashito Bharat Samachar’, Dr Seema Bora of “The Assam Post”, Sameeran Das of ‘The Assam Rising’.
It is also stated that the large number of people are engaged in the newspaper industry and contributing towards minimising of todays unemployment problems. Thus this industry helps to solve the problem of unemployment to a great extent. In the memorandum All Assam Newspaper Association. appeals to the DIPR director to increase the advertisements so that the industry can rejuvenate.
The copy of the same have been submitted to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Information and Public Relations Minister Piyush Hazarika and concerned Commissioner of the department for taking suitable action in this regard for survival of news paper industry.
