Mental health today is one of the massive topics that does not receive as much attention as it should.
Mental health now also affects physical health of people as well, creating a form of disconnection from society and leading to loneliness. Surprisingly, the cause of death due to suicide is spiking up the bar daily, which is even more than deaths due to Tuberculosis.
Mental health awareness, post pandemic, requires urgent attention today. There is no doubt that the mental health scenario was nothing better a couple years before, prior to the COVID-19 catastrophe that spewed venom in human lives.
As of now, it has only aggravated in form and nature. While cases of suicide are constantly rising in number, the need to curtail it down is becoming of urgent attention as well. Unfortunately, there has been a 17% elevantion in the number of suicides between the year of 2019 and 2021, as per the National Crime Records Bureau, NCRB data.
The most probable reason behind it is the consistent, and utterly disturbing emotional distress among individuals, regardless of the age. The worst part of this all is that there is little to no cure in many parts of India.
Why?
It is majorly due to the fact that members of a household usually aren’t listening to obstacles their children are confronting on a daily basis. While this is only one part of an otherwise big sphere, we cannot really brush it under the carpet.
Mental health and wellness is a very crucial topic to discuss about, especially during times when suicide cases, chronic depression, anxiety, trauma and everything inside the sphere is constantly on a hike.
In cases where mental health issues are brought to limelight, many people suffering from it are hesitant to talk openly about it. It is important to be vocal about mental health and help individuals open up about their story. If not us, who? If not now, when?
Let’s answer mental health vocally from today. Stay tuned!
